Fish Biologist

As a Fish Biologist your duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
Oversee daily operations of a large salmon research and monitoring program, directs all aspects of adult spawning surveys, radio telemetry operations, juvenile occupancy sampling, organizing and maintaining vessels and vehicles. You will be responsible for writing, final collation and editing of scientific and annual reports. Provide direction and guidance to biological staff concerning study planning, data collection, data analysis and interpretation of landlocked Atlantic salmon data collected by program activities. Use computer programs including but not limited to geographic information software (GIS), modeling programs (Visual Basic, R), and database programs (Oracle, SQL, Microsoft Access) to maintain and analyze data for assessment and data management. Apply statistical concepts and innovative techniques to the evaluation and resolution of aquatic resource problems. Assist Program Manager and/or Project Leader in budgeting, contracting, planning and work plan preparation, negotiation, and execution for fishery activities for which the incumbent is responsible. In order to meet the Basic Education Requirement you must possess one of the following:
A. I possess a Bachelor's Degree with a major in a biological science that includes the following coursework:
1) at least 6 semester hours in aquatic subjects such as limnology, ichthyology, fishery biology, aquatic botany, aquatic fauna, oceanography, fish culture, or related courses in the field of fishery biology; AND 2) at least 12 semester hours in the animal sciences subjects such as general zoology, vertebrate zoology, comparative anatomy, physiology, genetics, ecology, cellular biology, parasitology, entomology, or research courses in such subjects. NOTE:

I have a combination of education and experience that is equivalent to a major in a biological science (i.e., at least 30 semester hours) of which a minimum of 6 semester hours were in aquatic subjects and 12 semester hours were in the animal sciences as described in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education. In addition to meeting the Basic Education Requirement above, in order to qualify for this position you must meet one of the following:
A. I possess at least one year of full-time specialized experience comparable in difficulty and responsibility to the next lower grade level (comparable to GS-09) in the Federal service. Examples of qualifying specialized experience may include:
research, monitoring and reporting on juvenile and adult salmon; fishery data base management and use of quantitative/statistical analyses of fish monitoring and research data; use GIS in an integrated way with fisheries to collect habitat data; author technical reports on the progress of scientific fish-related activities; coordinate with partner agencies to conduct scientific monitoring projects. B. I have completed three full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or equivalent doctoral degree in a field directly related to fishery biology such as limnology, ichthyology, fishery biology, aquatic botany, aquatic fauna, oceanography, fish culture, fish and wildlife management, marine science, or other fields directly related to fishery biology. (Transcripts must be provided to support educational claims). C. I possess an equivalent combination of professional experience and graduate level education beyond the second year which together equals 100% of the requirements. NOTE:

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
